It's time for a change as the Sun conjuncts Uranus. Then when Mercury turns direct on March 7, you can set in motion all of those plans you'd been reviewing during its retrograde period. You'll get all the support you need with Venus forming a trine to Jupiter on March 8, then a trine to Saturn on March 9. But watch that your enthusiasm doesn't get the best of you as the Sun squares Jupiter -- also on March 9.

March 5: Sun conjunct Uranus

Are you ready to be liberated? Or is your life so fabulous that it couldn't benefit from something new and different? As the Sun travels through Pisces and meets up with eccentric Uranus, change is in the air. Conjunctions mark beginnings, and it's time for a new cycle. Surprises will occur, but know that this is appropriate for you now. It's time to reinvent yourself and leave behind old concepts that have nothing to do with you anymore.

March 7: Mercury turns direct

As Mercury ends its retrograde in Aquarius, it's time to incorporate everything you've learned since Mercury turned retrograde in Pisces on February 14. As this communication planet has traveled from a sensitive water sign back into a logical air sign, it'll be necessary to go back to old conversations with a more detached perspective. At times you may have felt that you were straddling two worlds: the emotions of your heart and the intellectual perspective of your mind. Now, however, with Mercury direct you can confidently implement the changes that you desire.

March 8: Venus trine Jupiter; March 9: Venus trine Saturn

Lovely Venus in feisty Aries forms a grand trine with enthusiastic Jupiter and serious Saturn -- providing a wealth of support! This is a great aspect for socializing and for advancing your personal and business relationships. Saturn provides stability, so you can go out on a limb and not risk falling. It seems like everybody loves you now, so take advantage of the goodwill.

March 9: Sun square Jupiter

Feeling misunderstood? Sometimes you can't fathom the world and the world can't fathom you. The Sun in sensitive Pisces wants to connect on an emotional level. Jupiter in Sagittarius is like an enthusiastic, well-meaning bull in a china shop. This is a highly optimistic square that is prone to overcommitment. Lunar Eclipse Full Moon, Saturday, March 3rd. This powerful lunation takes place in Virgo, along the nodal axis, and with the Sun conjunct Uranus in Pisces. The Sabian Symbol reads "A strong hand supplanting political hysteria," which Marc Edmond Jones calls "consistent effectiveness in dramatizing personal potentials." Uranus, bringer of new concepts and unexpected enlightenment, makes a productive pairing with this symbol. The Sun also resides at the Venus / Chiron midpoint at this time, with the Moon also aspecting these two energies, so that old wounds and relationship patterns from the long-dead past may come up at this time for transcending them.

Last Quarter Moon, Sunday, March 11th. This is traditionally the "crisis in consciousness" spoken about by Rudhyar, when the rubber meets the road and we must see what portion of the impulse that began the cycle three weeks ago can concretely be accomplished, and survive in the real world of countervailing and supporting influences. This moment can therefore represent a time of tension in our process of growth. Since Saturn is also emphasized at this time, opposing the remainder of the planets, it is also a time of limitation in general. Saturn also forms a grand trine with Jupiter and Venus in Aries, making for an interesting mix of energies, all stop and go. We will want to move forward, especially since Mercury is also moving in direct motion at this time, having stationed on the 7th, but we may have to hold back against our wishes. The Saturn – Neptune opposition, now fading, is also powerfully constellated by the Quarter Moon at the 22nd degree of Sagittarius, conjunct Jupiter.

New Moon and Solar Eclipse, Sunday, March 18th. This is of course the potent energy of the New Moon, coupled with the eclipse emphasis, and takes place in 28 plus degrees of Pisces, exactly square Pluto. The effects of eclipses last for many months, and this one may be triggered again by the passage of Mars opposite this degree eight weeks from now around the time of the mid-May New Moon. There is obviously transformation in the air at this time, representing a springboard for action, just preceding as it does the Vernal Equinox. The Sabian Symbol is quite beautiful, "A prism." Marc Edmond Jones calls it "a symbol of the world's stability." Maybe we will make it after all.

At the Vernal Equinox on the 20th, two days later, as the Sun enters Aries to begin once again the cycle of the seasons, the Sun's ruler Mars resides at the Chiron/Neptune midpoint opposite Saturn. This brings once again the potential for change through effort of renouncing all that is buried away inside us, and toxic, and not really very good for us. May it be so!

The First Quarter Moon, Sunday, March 25th. Now Mars conjuncts Neptune, bringing compassion to the arc of development that is unfolding over the course of this monthly cycle. This is the time when the new shoot begins to emerge figuratively in our psyches as a result of the courage we have shown at the time of the New Moon just past. It may be a difficult emerging into manifestation, but if the impulse is consistent with our inner vision it is likely to be a viable birth.

February 27: Mercury enters Aquarius

As retrograding Mercury, the planet of communication, re-enters altruistic Aquarius on February 27, you are returning to old conversations and ideas. Leaving behind the emotionalism of Pisces for now, you have the opportunity in this innovative air sign to develop your ideas and to return to conversations with those who can help you. February 28: Saturn opposes Neptune

This is quite an interesting week as the relationship planets -- lovely Venus and assertive Mars -- form a fun sextile aspect to each other on February 13. Both planets then quincunx the taskmaster, Saturn, on Valentine’s Day. Add to the mix Mercury turning retrograde in dreamy Pisces also on February 14, and it will take extra care to ensure that misunderstandings don’t occur. The new Moon in Aquarius helps join with like-minded people. Yet, when the Sun also enters Pisces on February 18, we'll all wonder what actually happened earlier in the week!

February 13: Venus sextile Mars

Venus in romantic Pisces and Mars in ambitious Capricorn make a great team in this water/earth combo. Venus softens the hard edges of Mars, and Mars provides a strong shoulder to lean on. If it weren’t for the fact that they are both about to make a quincunx (150 degree) aspect tomorrow forming a major aspect pattern called a Yod, everything would remain all sweet. February 14: Venus and Mars quincunx Saturn

Although Venus and Mars are getting along famously, they’re both held in check by the taskmaster, Saturn. If you want to learn astrology, you’ve got to read a book. If you’re lucky it’s a good one. It’s not too boring so you figure you’ll read another. Next thing you know if you get the bug, you’ve read four or five or eight books and right about here you consider really cracking down.

And if you do that… well pretty soon you’ve read ten or twenty or thirty books and things are starting to gel. And at some point you want to try out your new knowledge, so you start to talk to people. You look at their charts or your talk about your own. And if you keep it up, eventually you start “reading” charts.

And at first you’ve got to have your books there so you can look things up and offer up pieces. There is no synergy. You can’t really read a chart, you can just look it up quickly! You fumble along but if you keep this up things improve.

Eventually you become familiar with certain things. Certain aspects you understand. Or maybe you get the 2nd house, or Jupiter really well. But you still have no ideas of your own. And by now you can recite what other people have said or written… you need your books less, but still none of it originates inside of you.

But if you keep it up… if you try and try, eventually there a tipping point and things start to open up for you. It’s like this: Eureka!

And then some more time passes… more time, more time, more time, and more time. More time passes, more books, more watching, more reading, more studying, and then one day - one glorious day - you have something of your own to say about something you see. You have something original to say about a house or a planet, or an aspect or an entire chart, or whatever it is in your hand when it happens for you.

And at that point you’re becoming an astrologer. Astrology is no longer something you have memorized but something you have absorbed and assimilated; and this to me, is an alchemical process. Everything goes into the pot. Soup, nuts, snails, and puppy dog tails and it boils, boils, boils, boils. And you boil, boil, boil, boil. And if you get out of the pot you lose! If you quit, you lose!

But if you stay in there… if you stay with it, alchemy takes place. And all the sudden you can look at those symbols and know exactly what they mean. And how this occurs is completely mysterious.

Six different planets will travel through the sign of Sagittarius next month. Unusual? It won’t happen again for at least 250 years. Does it matter if Pluto is called a planet?

Uranus was discovered in 1781 and was the first planet discovered with a telescope. At about the time electricity was discovered, rebellion filled the streets, and we indeed find an eclectic and electric energy in folks who have this planet strongly posited in their birth charts. Neptune was discovered in 1846, about the time film and photography were being developed. Oil and chemicals were discovered in the years that follow, along with breakthroughs in medical techniques and understanding. And yes, movie stars typically have a powerful Neptune connection in their chart. Pluto was only discovered in 1930. Nuclear power is under his rulership and Pluto is a tremendous force in everyone’s chart. He rules surgeons and killers – life and death.

Notice that each planet signaled a time of increased awareness here on the Earth. Different and powerful energies were discovered and developed in the wake of this new awareness. And like all forces in astrology – each planet has a positive and negative side.
Astrologers determined the nature of the planets by examining birth charts and seeing how this new energy exposed itself in men and mankind.

Now we have discovered more celestial bodies out in space. And the system of classification has come under scrutiny. What astrologers will do with the new bodies is the same thing we did with Pluto. We will find out where this new asteroid/moon/planet is in thousands of birth charts and see what force and nature we can discern from our observations. Whether the scientists call the new bodies asteroids or planets in not important to us.

Case in point is Ceres. She is the largest of the asteroids and was discovered in 1801. We have placed her in many charts and studied her nature for a long time. She is the goddess of agriculture, the harvest, and the abundance of the land. And not really a powerful force in astrology – not like Pluto. Scientists said they would make her a planet – upgrade her from the asteroid class – as her physical size is so great. That will not change anything about the way astrologers interpret her energy. The scientists can call her anything they want. We look at her power and nature in the charts to tell us who she is. Scientists classify by physical properties; astrologers look for her soul.

And that’s what we will do with any new planetary discoveries that are made. Notable is that the new “planets” are feminine energy. So, we will certainly be looking into the charts of Hillary Clinton, Margaret Thatcher, or Princess Dianana and others to see where Zena, the Warrior Princess, sits. Or, perhaps Zena will be prominent in the charts of women who are suicide bombers. Maybe she is Martha Stewart’s guiding light.

Meanwhile, astrologers will be looking for understanding and a reflection of these new energies in every chart we have. Stand by. I’ll give you more info as times change.

What's your sign? If you are a Virgo, we've got some good news for you. Turns out, more members of the Forbes billionaires list share your zodiac sign than any other.

That was our finding after trolling through all the birth dates we've collected on the world's wealthiest. So far, we have confirmed the birth dates for 613 of our 793 billionaires.

Of those, more than 70, or roughly 12 per cent, were born between Aug. 23 and Sept. 22, making this earth sign the most common among billionaires.

It's a bit ironic that top astrology honours for this male-dominated billionaires list goes to the sign symbolised by a virgin, but it actually isn't too surprising. Virgos are known to be hardworking, determined, detail-oriented and analytical.

They are driven more by their desire to achieve excellence at whatever they do than by the pursuit of riches.

These utilitarian types are happiest when they can produce things or services that are useful to others. Two of the richest and best-known American billionaires are both Virgos: Berkshire Hathaway's Warren Buffett, the second-richest person in the world, and Oracle's Larry Ellison.

But don�t fret if you or your children are not Virgos. Forbes found examples of billionaires born under all 12 zodiac signs.

Aggressive Aries, who account for 8 per cent of our list, include Microsoft's Steve Ballmer and Ikea's Ingvar Kamprad; idealistic Aquarians like Oprah Winfrey also make up 8 per cent.

Scorpio has bragging rights as the sign of the world's richest man, Microsoft's Bill Gates. "Scorpios always do well because they use all of their seductive powers to sell. The goal of Scorpio is to make you do what they want you to do, whether you want to do it or not," Lutin says, about this sign, known for its passion. "People hate Windows, but they buy it."

The least common sign among billionaires? Sagittarius, which represents just 6 per cent of the world's wealthiest. Folks born under this sign are sometimes described as unorganised or even sloppy, and more focused on the big picture than on little details.

"Counting on their luck and the grace of God, adventurous Sagittarians can act like tourists in the marketplace,". But what they may lack in business acumen, they make up for in creativity.

Thus it's no surprise that Sagittarian billionaires include Hollywood director Steven Spielberg and producer Arnon Milchan.

The Sun enters Aquarius in mid-winter (in the Northern Hemisphere). Much of the world's population faces cold weather and long nights at this time of the year. This is a perfect opportunity to step back from the daily grind and take a larger view of life. Aquarius wants to understand the big social patterns that define the culture so that it can be reformed and modernized.

After Capricorn (a practical earth sign) turns its ambition into form and structure, Aquarius comes along to change it. Airy Aquarius opens the doors and windows, breaks down the barriers and fights for the equality of all living things. Hierarchy is reshaped into a collective crystal where all are one, yet each is different. This combination of concern for the group with total commitment to the rights of the individual is essential to the nature of Aquarius.

The Not So Wet Water Bearer

It's natural to think of the Water Bearer as a water sign, but it's not. It's an air, or mental, sign that is primarily concerned with ideas and concepts. The Water Bearer symbol represents the human mind that elevates us above our emotions (water). Aquarius, in fact, often uses intellect to distance itself from feelings.

The preliminary results have been stunningly jaw dropping and revolutionary, so perhaps this is a step in the right direction for treating cancer but I wonder about the efficacy of a drug for treatment when lifestyle choices could well be a preventative measure.

The asteroid of health, Hygeia, is in Scorpio near Mercury, so issues with the blood, surgeries, colon and sexual organs will be of concern for those who will be directly affected by this aspect.

In the square to Neptune, this could also translate to water-born illnesses, like cholera or dysentery and intestinal disorders. We are a sick culture with far too much dependence on drugs of one sort or another and we need to get on the wagon of self-improvement, as the Sun/Jupiter wants us to do.

It all comes down to the ever-evolving relationships we develop with each other as we travel along life’s path. Astrology, A Cosmic Science by Isabel Hickey, New Pathways, 1970, level: Beginning to Intermediate - this is the classic text on the art of Astrology

The strength of this book is the deep, rich context surrounding each topic.

I use it as a reference book - when I'm stumped by a chart, I just page through this book looking for new associations to break the logjam in my mind. But in truth, this is a book to read cover-to-cover, pasting in post-it-notes to mark the bits and pieces of unrelated but illuminating wisdom tossed into various discussions.

For example, in one very illuminating section of this book, Hickey discusses each of the signs as it manifests as the Ascendant - then under each sign as the Ascendant, she discusses each of the signs that would be on the other House Cusps if there are no interceptions, or if you use equal-house methods.

She shows you how the rising sign synthesizes with the signs on each of the cusps - to create some of the characteristics of people with that sign rising, and to color the house involved. This explains WHY a particular ascendant tends to produce people who behave a particular way.

The book is worth its price for that section alone -- if you're willing to just sit for a couple of hours and read all the rising signs, one section after the other. The faster you read it, the more sense it makes. The section is laid out very systematically, and that system reveals vistas of astrological truths in and of itself.

NUMEROLOGY - METHODOLOGY

This concerns how we look at significant numbers and glean meaning from them. There are many different methods which are used in the art of Numerology. Sources of many number systems come from ancient wisdom teachings, and are inherited from different cultures all over the world. Najaramah encourages and promotes the use of all systems of Numerology, and the invention of new ones so as to bring in as much understanding as possible. The field of Numerology is rapidly expanding.

Two of the most common and important methods involve looking at the date of birth, and names of people or organisations.
Taking a date of birth (14th February, 1962) as an example:-

Each of the 3 component parts of this date i.e. month, day and year can be looked at separately and in various combinations to see how they interact and influence each other. Each of the components have a different significance and interpretation.
The day and the month (the l4 and 2 ) can be added together to give an overall look at the personality aspect of the person. The resulting number, in this case a 16, gives a greater understanding of the tasks involving personality growth.
Then all 3 parts can be aggregated to, give an overall number. In this case we have the 14+2 = 16 which are added in their total and not as separate digits, then added to the year number, which is added together as separate digits - e.g- 1+9+6+2 = 18. Then the two resulting numbers are added together :- 16+18 =34. The resulting number, which is 34 in this case, is seen as one of the most important numbers in the chart and can represent the aspirations of the Soul. When double numbers are used the digits are added together to give an additional and "summing up" number. In the case of the 34 then we would have a 34/7. There are many other numbers which can be derived from the date of birth, to throw further light on what is happening in the chart.

Names are easily translated into numbers by using a reduction table:

In this system the vowels are placed above and the consonants below and are totalled up separately, before an overall total is obtained. Y is treated as a vowel because in most cases it sounds like one phonetically.
The vowels generally signify inner qualities, and the consonants are more personality based, so the different components can be extracted and add to the understanding of the complete person, which we see in the overall total of 49/13/4.

This explanation is just a starting point and the numbers can be extended and developed using more numbers which are derived from the original date of birth and name.

October 17, 2005 "Eclipse of the Moon"

The eclipse of the Moon has traditionally been viewed as a bad omen, for it can awaken irrational responses. Since the Moon governs domestic matters, the public and the emotional personality, rather than leadership, it tends to have a more personal effect than the solar eclipse, which plays a more outward, even political, role. As a rule, women and family are generally more affected by the lunar cycle, whereas men and politics are signified by the solar. This is not to say that women are not political animals, nor that men are distinct from the family, but that the private, nurturing side is more affected than the public, social and media driven arena, which even in the 21st Century is still primarily dominated by males, or at least by what might be described as masculine energies.

Accepting Loss

When we experience any kind of devastating loss, whether it is the loss of a loved one, a dream, or a relationship, feelings may arise within us that are overwhelming or difficult to cope with. This sense of grief can also come up when we are separated from anyone or anything we have welcomed into our lives. And while it may feel like we are caught up in a never-ending spiral of sadness and emptiness, it is important to remember that the grief we are feeling is not a permanent state of being. Rather, grief is part of the process of letting go that in many ways can be a gift, allowing us to go deeper within ourselves to rediscover the light amidst the seeming darkness.

The emotions that accompany any kind of loss can be intense and varied. A sense of shock or denial is often the first reaction, to be replaced by anger. Sometimes this anger can be directed at your loved one for "abandoning" you; at other times you may feel outrage toward the universe for what you are enduring. And while there are stages of grief that people go through - moving from denial to anger to bargaining to depression to acceptance - the cycles of grief often move in spirals, sometimes circling forward and then back again. You may even experience moments of strength, faith, and laughter in between. While these emotions seem to come and go sporadically, it is important to feel them, accept them, and allow them to flow. With time, patience, and compassion, you will eventually find your center again.

As we move through our grief, we may find ourselves reluctant to release our pain, fearing we are letting go of who or what we have lost. We may even regard our movement toward healing as an act of disloyalty or giving up. Know that while the hurt may fade, the essence of what you had and who you loved will have already transformed you and forever stay with you. If anything, once you are ready for the pain of your loss to subside, their memories can then live more fully within you. Remember, that healing is a part of the spiraling cycles of grief, and that in letting yourself feel restored again, you are surrendering to a natural movement that is part of the dance of life.

Benedict XVI The New Pope

Joseph Ratzinger (b. April 16, 1927) is the newly elected Pope of the Roman Catholic Church (Benedict XVI). In 1981 Cardinal Ratzinger was appointed prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith by Pope John Paul II, made a Cardinal Bishop of the see of Velletri-Segni in 1993, and was elected Dean of the College of Cardinals in 2002, becoming titular bishop of Ostia.

Born in Marktl am Inn , in Bavaria, Germany, Ratzinger entered a preparatory seminary in 1939. In 1943, at the age of 16 he was, along with the rest of his class, drafted into the Flak or anti-aircraft corps. He went into basic training for the Wehrmacht infantry in November of 1944. In 1945 he was interned in a POW camp as a German soldier. By June he was released, and he and his brother (Georg ) reentered seminary. On June 29, 1951, he and his brother were ordained by Cardinal Faulhaber of Munich. His dissertation (1953) was on Saint Augustine, his Habilitationsschrift (second dissertation) on Saint Bonaventure.

Ratzinger was a professor at the University of Bonn from 1959 until 1963, when he moved to the University of Muenster. In 1966, he took a chair in dogmatic theology at the University of Tübingen, where he was a colleague of Hans Küng. In 1969 he returned to Bavaria, to the University of Regensburg .

At the Second Vatican Council (1962 – 1965), Ratzinger served as a peritus or chief theological expert, to Cardinal Joseph Frings of Cologne, Germany.

In 1972, he founded the theological journal Communio with Hans Urs von Balthasar, Henri de Lubac and others. Communio, now published in German, English, and Spanish editions, has become one of the most important journals of Catholic thought. In March 1977 Ratzinger was named archbishop of Munich and Freising and in the consistory that June was named a Cardinal by Pope Paul VI.

On November 25, 1981 Pope John Paul II named Ratzinger prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, formerly known as the Holy Office or the Inquisition. He resigned the Munich archdiocese in early 1982, became cardinal-bishop of Velletri-Segni in 1993, vice-dean of the College of Cardinals in 1998, and was elected Dean in 2002. In office, Ratzinger usually takes very conservative views on topics like birth control, inter-religious dialog , and ecumenism.

On September 30, 2003, Ratzinger's statement, "We should pray for the pope", was published by the German weekly Bunte , and subsequently, the quote made headlines worldwide, raising questions about the pope's health.

On the other hand, many astrologers through research and experience, have found the additional points are useful tools, bringing astrology's body of knowledge in line with man's evolutionary process, enabling the astrologer to glean further information as to the 'hidden' nature of his or her subject.

In practice, sometimes the information gleaned may indeed simply be a confirmation of what is shown in other areas of the natal chart. At many other times though, the new information can throw entirely new light on the specifics of character and the background against which that character has developed.
