Is Your Home a sweet home? Check the numbers
People have been studying numerology for more than 2,500 years. Normally, they explore the relationship of numbers to names and dates to determine their paths and destiny, learn what challenges they might have to overcome, explore their special talents or discover what innate abilities dwell within.
But astrologists maintain that just like a birth date and a name, the number assigned a house and the name given to the street on which it sits go a long way toward determining the "vibrations" that take place inside.
Numerology encompasses not just the study of numbers but also letters, color and music and their effects on our everyday lives. Though it generally is associated with your name and the date of your birth, it also can be used to assess and interpret the mystical meaning of your address, or even your telephone number.
To help you determine what your address says about you, I give you this "Starter's Guide."
(To get to your destiny house number, add all the digits and the digits assigned to the letters in your address -- 1 for A, 2 for B, 3 for C and so on until you reach 26 for Z -- and continue adding them until you reach a single digit.
If you live at 35 Moravian St, for example, you would add 3, 5, 13, 15, 18, 1, 22,9,1,14,19 and 20 to get 140. Then add 1 and 4 and 0 to get 5.)
Your House Number in this example is 5.
Following is the 9 differents Houses and their number:
1 -- Ruled by the Sun, a No. 1 home would be good for a mature family with no tots or toddlers or someone who is highly motivated by his or her profession.
Those who work from home or have an office in their home will be successful here. If you want to boost your self-confidence and be more self-disciplined, find a 1 home.
But if you are the carefree type with no special aims or ambitious drives, or if you are single and looking for a lifelong partner, you might not enjoy living here.
2 -- This address will be great for romantics of all kinds, from those who love to love and be loved to those starting off married life and looking to build a new family. A No. 2 home (Moon) will help people get along more easily and will encourage a more peaceful, kind, generous and supportive atmosphere where love of all kinds can prosper and grow. It will be a great place for throwing parties and hosting get-togethers in a harmonious, friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
If you live alone, however, you may find a 2 house inhibiting, or even depressing.
3 -- This address should enhance your creativity, confidence and brainpower. The No. 3 home (Mercury) is great if you have a natural brilliance and can talk and talk -- and like a spot of gossip. You're rarely lost for words and communicate with ease. You are the eternal student, are eager to learn and have a lively, sanguine air. A 3 house is just as good for single people as it is for couples, and more mature folk will feel equally at home here as well.
However, it might not be so good for ambitious or serious folks and spiritual types who never know when to switch off and chill out.
4 -- This is the most stable and grounded of all home numbers. It inspires responsibility, wisdom and determination, along with an enterprising and far-sighted vision of the future.
Four is said to be the luckiest of all the numbers, so you can spot an opportunity and cash in on it.
And while you live in a 4 house (Jupiter), it will help you be responsible with the money you make. This house number will be great for those with young children and those who have a strong drive, but it won't be all that good for creative types who are unconventional in their outlooks, beliefs or way of life.
5 -- This house number will be great for anyone with an unconventional or unorthodox mind who loves to try out new ideas and experiment with a wide range of new and unusual schemes.
It's a home for adventurous people who welcome and love change in all shapes and forms.
But, be warned, it also can encourage you to get involved in so many new plans and projects that you lose sight of your ultimate goals and find that you start more things than you finish. If companionship and relationships mean everything to you and you are loving, giving and tender, you also will enjoy a 5 house (Venus).
If you are traditionally minded and a bit of a stick-in-the-mud, you might find the atmosphere of change a little challenging.
6 -- This is thought to be the best house number for those preoccupied with single-minded ambition who crave success and recognition. It will be inspiring for those who dabble in the visual arts such as painting, photography, sculpture and design work of all kinds. Those who will revel in the 6 house (Saturn) will tend to be perfectionists with high levels of personal and professional responsibility.
This is probably the best house number for families with young or teenage children; it will strengthen family ties and all close, loving relationships. The 6 house seems to suit most people on most levels.
7 -- The No. 7 (Neptune) always has been given a heavenly status, so living in a house with this number may put you more in tune with the metaphysical and unworldly vibrations of life. This is the best possible house number for folks who are slightly wacky, unorthodox or downright eccentric. It's also great for those who love their own company and rarely feel lonely or need to have others around them.
Psychics, mystics and those who live a prayerful or contemplative lifestyle will enjoy the 7 house. Serious-minded students, professors, teachers and those who need to work or think in solitude will find the number 7 ambience ideal. But if you're the fun-loving, free-spirited, party-throwing type who needs to have lots of people around you, you may find it rather heavy going.
8 -- The No. 8 (Uranus) house is probably the best place for the inventive, disruptive and chaotic folk. It will encourage those who live there to come up with ingenious ideas that are way ahead of their time. But it also can be a radical and revolutionary force that upsets the status quo and creates havoc.
However, the 8 house also encourages financial well-being and will be good for those who dream of career or business success and have a strong, but not overwhelming, ambitious drive. It will be good for single adults and those individuals and families who prize comfort, luxury and material possessions. It also is a healthy place to be as it nurtures bodily strength and physical well-being.
9 -- The No. 9 (Mars and Pluto) home will inspire confidence and idealism; it also will help those who live there to develop their own personal style and personal growth. The 9 house might not be the best address for large or young families, but it will be good for singles who are concerned with helping others or tending to the needs of individuals or communities.
It is a place where folks can shrug off problems and recover from setbacks. A 9 house is great for those who live in communes or for students and house sharers. But if you are the type with specific and focused career goals or ambitious aspirations, it may not be the place for you.
