The Stars This Week - 02/06/06 - 02/12/06

On the 6th, the Sun's conjunction to Neptune and square to Jupiter will infuse your interactions with sensitivity and generosity, so seize the opportunity to extend -- or accept -- a second chance. Mercury's arrival in sensitive Pisces on the 8th will put a halt to the no-holds-barred communication you experienced when the Messenger Planet was in Aquarius. Make the most of your increased sensitivity to the power of words. Then get out there and dazzle during the full Moon in Leo!

February 6: Sun conjunct Neptune, Sun square Jupiter

A touch of sensitivity will creep into your encounters now, along with a strong dose of concern for the welfare of others. Which isn't to say that you've been entirely unfeeling lately; you've just been thinking of yourself first, which has been entirely appropriate. But today, the Sun and sentimental Neptune will get together to soften the edges on more than one rather 'taut' situation. At the same time, the Sun will also meet up with benevolent Jupiter, who's famous for giving people a second chance, a break they're not brave enough to ask for or a gift they truly deserve. Think Santa Claus meets Fairy Godmother. That's you today. But forego the wand, please. Think of your image.

February 8: Mercury into Pisces

You've spent weeks letting everything that crosses your mind emerge from your lips without a thought -- not so much because you intended to be careless, but because you really didn't feel like you had any control over it. But at some point today, two things will happen: First, you'll regain the ability to engage your brain before your mouth. Next, you'll become particularly concerned about the emotional effect of your words. It's Mercury the Messenger who's the culprit, having slipped into the cosmic phone booth just long enough to leave detached Aquarius behind and slip into something a lot more compassionate: Pisces. This will take some adjustment on your part -- and maybe an apology or two, as well.

February 12: Full Moon in Leo

Today, you'll be feeling like the full Moon itself: dazzling, luminous and positively inspirational! The heavens' night-light is shining in Leo, whose creative, gregarious energy will leave us all a little more confident ... and a lot less resistible. Furthermore, this full Moon brings an important period of ripening concerning your career or what you'd like to do with your life. And better yet, you're also coming into the drive and enthusiasm to make big strides toward those goals. So whether you apply the Lion's kingly magnetism to professional pursuits or amorous endeavors -- just get out there!

Mercury in Aquarius - Jan 22, 2006 to Feb 8, 2006

Mercury, the planet of the intellect, is very smart in inventive Aquarius. Fresh perspectives emerge from an awareness of synthesis—how the pieces fit together. Conceptual structures grow like crystals as the mind reaches out in new directions.

Aquarius, deceptively named the "Water Bearer," is actually an air sign. Air signs, the others are Gemini and Libra, have the gift of detachment and the grace of objectivity.

As a fixed sign, Aquarius is interested in values—in this case mental ones. The mind is strong and able to mix and match increasingly different ideas into a cohesive whole. The challenge, however, is that such complex notions are not necessarily easy to communicate. Mercury, the communications planet, generally prefers simplicity, which may be harder to come by for now.

In principle, Aquarius is open-minded. However, fixed signs are strong-willed by nature. This can lead to some conversational difficulties during this period. Tolerance for opposing points of view is vital if real dialogue is to take place. A bright person will appreciate that there is always more than one way to view a situation.

Yet, the intellectual nature of Mercury in Aquarius can overpower emotions and rationalize them away. Aquarian detachment brings objectivity, which helps us see, but often makes it more difficult to feel.

Those born with Mercury in Aquarius include the athletically gifted Michael Jordan, Julius Erving, John McEnroe and Wayne Gretsky. Comic genius is found here in the works of Jim Carrey, John Belushi, Billy Crystal, Andy Kaufman, Chris Farley, Jackie Gleason and Bill Maher. Actors with Mercury in Aquarius include Drew Barrymore, Matt Dillon, Geena Davis, Cybill Shepherd, Jennifer Aniston and Christian Bale.

High-tech Mercury in Aquarius appears in the birth charts of astronauts Buzz Aldrin, Deke Slayton and Frank Borman. Musicians Garth Brooks, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Lou Reed, Karen Carpenter, Bob Marley, Neil Diamond, Artur Rubenstein, George Harrison, Jascha Heifetz, Graham Nash, Janis Joplin, Carole King and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart reflect the brilliance of this combination.

Writers Anais Nin, Norman Mailer, Clare Boothe Luce, Jack London, Jean Auel, Gertrude Stein and Jules Verne were born with Mercury in Aquarius. Reform-minded politicians Adlai Stevenson and Thomas Paine, as well as disparate geniuses Benjamin Franklin, Luther Burbank, Bobby Fischer, Barbara Jordan, Michelangelo, Oprah Winfrey and Stanley Owsley are all members of this super-intelligent group.

Moon in Taurus - Feb 3, 2006 to Feb 5, 2006

It's a steady and grounded Taurus Moon. Not a day for roller coasters, airborne, screaming with delight. Or is it? Indulge in the sheer pleasure of being here, adored by gravity, earth's invisible embrace. Enjoy your weight. Roll in a newly mowed lawn. Celebrate your voice: shout, sing or whisper in somebody's ear. Then drink a soothing tea for the thyroid and throat. You might be feeling a desire for more comfort and security now. Taurus says your prosperity takes organic gardening. Nothing greedy or toxic, just planning, patience, true nourishment, your bills paid in full, a surplus in your checking account and honoring the ways in which you're already wealthy. If your neck or jaw is stiff, ask yourself, "What am I resisting?" This Moon makes it easy to feel stubborn. But in a changing world, such strength can sometimes defeat itself. Don't try to move immovable objects.
